Officer: Serial killing suspect kept rape diaryOfficer: Man accused of killing 4 Calif. women kept diary of sexual assaults
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) ' A probation officer who in 2010 searched the home of a suspected serial killer testified Wednesday that he found a diary documenting rapes and sexual assaults on underage women.
Officer David LeBaker testified during a preliminary hearing in the murder trial of Joseph Naso. He told the court that he found an aluminum clipboard on Naso's dining room table.
Naso, 78, is representing himself. The former photographer has pleaded not guilty to four murder charges for slayings in the 1970s and 1990s.
LeBaker said he read the diary, noting paragraphs that detailed assaults on an underage girl on a Greyhound bus in Arkansas, another on an underage girl in Kansas and other cases.
During his cross examination, Naso questioned LeBaker's knowledge of sexual assault laws in these other states, noting that different states have different age of consent and other laws.
