OfficeDrop Scans Documents to Social Networks -- And the CloudFirst Service to Easily Create Multi-Page PDFs and Share Socially With Anyone (January 10, 2012)
CAMBRIDGE, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/10/12 -- Today, OfficeDrop announced the first social document sharing service for Mac. ScanDrop for Mac and the free ScanDrop Lite let any Mac user integrate scanned paper with digital screenshots to create multi-page, searchable PDFs, and with a single click share them via social networks or store them in services like Evernote, Dropbox, OfficeDrop and Google Docs.
Documents can be socially shared with a single click on ScanDrop. Once the document is created, users have the option of sharing text-searchable PDFs with an unique link that's sent directly to email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Delicious, Tumblr, and Amazon Wish List, to name a few. Popular online filing services like Google Docs, Evernote and OfficeDrop's cloud filing cabinet are also supported, allowing users to drop OfficeDrop PDF files into their accounts and share them with anyone, anywhere.
Users of ScanDrop can create documents not only by scanning paper docs onto their computer, but also by taking screen shots, which can be converted into text-searchable PDFs. Within the app, users can merge scans, screenshots and image files into a single, multi-page PDF and share it instantly. For example, if a user scans a receipt, he or she can grab a screenshot of anything on the computer (like a memo or spreadsheet) and share a single PDF document through many popular social sharing services.
"Our goal with the new release of ScanDrop was to make the service usable every day, not just when you're scanning in paper documents," explained OfficeDrop Co-Founder and CEO Prasad Thammineni. "Our customers are using ScanDrop in their workflows to easily grab screenshots and socially share once-stagnant paper documents that would otherwise just be sitting in a filing cabinet. The cloud is giving paper new life, and now, finally making it social."
OfficeDrop closes out a landmark year of growth in 2011 with more than 80,000 users (up from 7,000 in 2010) and 9x year-over-year revenue growth. The company's apps for iPad, iPhone and Android phones turn any device into a scanner, making it easy to send files into OfficeDrop's cloud from anywhere.
