OWC Launches Optical Drive UpgradesSuperDrive, Combo drive support PowerBook Titanium, G4 Cube systems
The new Mercury Ti is a combination DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW drive that replaces the existing optical drive in PowerBook and Cube systems. It offers 1x DVD writing and rewriting, 8x DVD reading, 8x CD-R writing, 4x CD-RW writing and rewriting and 24x CD reading. The Mercury Combo drive offers 8x CD-R/RW writing and rewriting, 24x CD reading and 8x DVD reading.
Both models include buffer underrun protection and a 2 MB cache. According to OWC, they're both 100 percent compatible with Apple software. The Mercury Ti also supports Apple's iDVD.
The Mercury Ti sells for $379.95, while the Mercury Combo drive sells for $199.95. Purchasers can also trade in their old drives for a rebate on the purchase of one of the new Mercury models. For more information, visit http://www.macsales.com.
