OWC Launches Neptune FireWire Storage

External drives available in capacities up to 250 GB By Dave Nagel
Other World Computer (OWC) has started shipping Neptune, a new line of external FireWire storage devices. The new models are available now in capacities up to 250 GB.

The Neptune line offers a 7,200 RPM mechanism with either a 2 MB or 8 MB buffer and uses the same Oxford 911 bridge found in the company's Mercury Elite line of drives. Designed for portability, the new models weigh in at 2.7 pounds and measure 1.5" x 9" x 5.5". All of the models come pre-initialized and ship with Mac software, a FireWire cable, Intech Hard Disk SpeedTools and Dantz Retrospect Express for Macintosh and Windows systems.

The new Neptune drives sell for $109.99 for the 60 GB version up to $299.99 for the 250 GB version. All are available now. For more information, visit
