NxView Embeds NxView-created 3D Scenes within Macromedia Authorware 6.0

(August 15, 2001)
NxView Technologies, Inc., today announced NxView 3DSpeedAuthor, a technology process that eases integration of NxView-created interactive 3D content and simulations into other applications, such as Macromedia Authorware 6.0.

With this introduction, e-learning developers using Authorware access NxView Studio and its wizard to convert NxView 3D files into the format required by the Macromedia Shockwave Player. Next, developers quickly embed the 3D scene and Shockwave Player into the course created in Authorware using the NxView 3DSpeedAuthor Knowledge Object. The 3D design is then ready for playback on the more than 200 million Shockwave-enabled PCs. NxView chooses Macromedia Authorware 6.0 for the first deployment of 3DSpeedAuthor because Authorware is the leading authoring software for creating rich-media e-learning applications.

Adoption of e-learning as the true "killer application" of the Internet has been rapid. Yet, the media types used in electronic courses have not evolved past those used in the classroom. These media types include text, 2D pictures, audio, animations and video. Ultra rich 3D is poised for inclusion as a media type by e-learning developers. Course developers or others take 3D models, make them interactive using NxView Studio 5.0, export the 3D scene via the NxView Studio Shockwave Publishing wizard, access Authorware's Knowledge Object library and drag the NxView 3DSpeedAuthor Knowledge Object into the course flowline. Finally, data from the simulation is linked to other learning material.

NxView 3DSpeedAuthor for Macromedia Authorware 6.0 is available at no cost to those purchasing Authorware or via download at www.nxviewstudio.com. The Goodies Folder contains the Knowledge Object and links to www.nxviewstudio.com where NxView Studio can be downloaded on September 1, 2001, and tried free for 30 days. The introduction price of NxView Studio 5.0 is $2,495 ($1,000 off the list price of $3,495) to Siggraph 2001 attendees. Included in this fee is the free upgrade to NxView Studio 5.5.
