Northwestern Mutual Life Integrates Media Distributors' Next-Generation Asset Management System for Corporate VideoInnovative Business Products Manages Installation of Media Distributors` Constellation VCM System (April 12, 2010)
With the assistance of its Midwestern region reseller, Innovative Business Products, Media Distributors has secured its first corporate video installation for the Constellation VCM system, which debuted at NAB 2009. Constellation VCM is a software-based system that includes an end-user interface that offers full search, retrieve, and manipulation of video and project files, without touching the original video source content.
Innovative Business Products' CEO, Jim Phillips, had collaborated with Media Distributors' Tony Cahill over the course of several webinars and product training sessions to customize Constellation VCM to specific Northwestern Mutual Life needs.
"We wanted to help incorporate an asset management solution, which would include a LTO library, with their existing infrastructure and workflow that would provide Northwestern Mutual Life with greater storage capacity," said Phillips. "Constellation manages their storage in a configurable manner; it is a truly flexible design that can evolve as their demand increases."
Constellation VCM is the first video asset management system to leverage next-generation enterprise tiered storage techniques and is the first to include digital fingerprinting, to deliver a highly flexible, scalable storage and distribution system for a wide range of customers, from large-scale video rights holders to small production and post-production companies. The system easily conforms to the existing workflow of any organization.
"The elegance of the Constellation design enables companies like Northwestern Mutual Life to adapt their workflow through the system in a way that is holistic," said Tony Cahill, chief engineer of Media Distributors. "We want to reduce complexity while embracing expanding possibilities, and Constellation enables us to deliver a fully-integrated, customizable system for customers."
