North Plains Systems Intros TeleScope Enterprise for Xsan

Digital asset management application to address video production, print and publishing customers (June 08, 2005)

North Plains Systems Corp., a leading provider of digital asset management (DAM) software and solutions, today announced that TeleScope Enterprise, its award-winning digital asset management application, will now support Tiger Server and Xsan, Apples 64-bit cluster file system for Xserve RAID storage hardware.

The announcement was made today at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

TeleScope Enterprise is a feature-rich and scalable digital asset management application. TeleScope builds on the price-performance advantages of Apples Xsan storage array in the video production, printing and publishing markets. It serves as the primary software platform for integrating and organizing media production tools such as Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Digimarc ImageBridge, Microsoft Office, Microsoft PowerPoint, Telestream FlipFactory, QuarkXPress and Virage VideoLogger.

?TeleScope is the first enterprise class digital asset management application to be optimized for Tiger Server, Xserve RAID and Xsan and it represents a compelling new application category for the enterprise market, said Carlos Montalvo, chief marketing officer at North Plains. ?We see a fast-growing and under-served market opportunity. TeleScope provides a web services-based architecture that connects creative teams and business managers and thereby connects digital media content with the business processes and business logic that enable mission-critical applications.

?Tiger Server combines over 100 open source projects with Apples legendary ease of use, stability and performance to make it the most advanced server operating system in the world," said Ron Okamoto, Apples vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. ?Were excited to see North Plains using Apple innovation to deliver a powerful digital asset management solution into the creative professional markets.

?Porting TeleScope to Apple Computers Tiger platform and Xserve RAID represents a significant event for the DAM industry and for the growing installed base of creative professionals using Apple Macintosh systems, said Mukul Krishna, senior industry analyst/team leader - digital media at Frost & Sullivan. ?TeleScope is the first enterprise-class application capable of moving significant numbers of Apple Tiger servers, and positions North Plains as a first-mover in delivering an enterprise DAM solution for Apple.

Designed for Global 2000 customers, TeleScope Enterprise allows IT and business managers to create an end to end digital media supply chain for the creation, management and distribution of rich media. Its SOAP-based APIs and XML gateways enable proven and cost-effective integration with existing enterprise IT investments such as enterprise content management systems, customer resources management systems, and enterprise information portals.

TeleScope organizes the wide range of creative teams and business managers that create and deploy rich media through out an organization. As a result, scattered collections of digital media files and their often dissociated business practices are transformed into a secure and organized repository of digital assets, business processes and intellectual property. TeleScope Enterprise allows the purposeful access of digital media assets through out an organization for reuse, repurposing or re-expression.

TeleScope Enterprise comes to the Apple enterprise market with over ten years of continuous innovation on the TeleScope Application Platform. TeleScope was the first DAM system to ship with a native Macintosh client. It also provides full AppleScript support. Today TeleScope provides the foundation for the industry's defining digital asset management deployments. With over 450 customers, 250,000 users and 22 million assets under management worldwide, North Plains is recognized as the leading DAM solution provider and most recently was named 2005 Digital Media Company of the year by Frost and Sullivan.
