Nikon To Ship New Coolpix CamerasModels offer 3x optical Zoom-Nikor lenses
The Nikon Coolpix 2100 offers a 2.0 megapixel resolution, while the 3100 offers 3.2 megapixels. Both cameras use Nikon's Nikkor optics and 256-Segment Matrix Metering. The Coolpix 2100 has a zoom range of 36-108 mm (35 mm equivalent), while the 3100 features a 38-115 mm lens (35 mm equivalent). Both cameras offer 14 scene modes, including Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Portrait, Beach/Snow, Sunset, Dawn/Dusk, Night Landscape, Party, Museum, Fireworks, Close-Up, Copy and Backlight. They also include special effects (halo, black and white and sepia) and the ability to capture QuickTime clips.
The Coolpix SQ is a more compact model, offering a 3.1 megapixel resolution, 3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and swiveling body design.
All of the cameras also come with NikonView 6.0 software with a red-eye reduction feature. NikonView is a software suite that includes photo management and image correction features, as well as the ability to create HTML photo albums. Previous versions of NikonView were available for Macintosh and WIndows. It isn't clear which platforms or OS versions the new release will support.
The cameras also include ArcSoft PhotoImpression, VideoImpression, Panorama Maker and PhotoBase software.
The Coolpix 2100 and 3100 are expected to be available in March. The Coolpix SQ will ship in spring. Pricing has not been announced on the SQ. The 2100 will sell for $249.95, while the 3100 will sell for $349.95. For more information, visit http://www.nikoncoolpix.com.
