Nikon Debuts New Digital SLRsCoolpix 8700 offers 8 megapixel resolution
The Coolpix 8700 includes an 8 megapixel resolution to produce images up to 3,264 x 2,448 pixels. It also offers an 8x optical zoom-Nikkor ED lens (35-280mm equivalent); PictBridge technology for direct printing; raw (NEF) data capture; pre-programmed scene modes; and macro shooting as close as 1.2 inches.
The D70 offers a 6.1 megapixel resolution and includes a DX-format CCD sensor; a new System LSI processor (for processing color, white balance and noise); Dynamic Buffer technology for capturing images at three frames per second for 144 frames in various JPEG modes (with the SanDisk 256 MB Ultra II CompactFlash card); program modes; simultaneous raw and JPEG capture; and a new i-TTL flash compatibility with a sync speed of 1/500 seconds. The D70 comes in two configurations, "Set" and "Outfit," The "Set" version includes the body, charger, battery, PictureProject software and neckstrap. The "Outfit" version also includes a new AF-S DX Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED lens.
The Coolpix 8700 will be available in February for $999. The D70 will ship this spring in "Set" and "Outfit" configurations for $999 and $1,299, respectively. For more information, visit http://www.nikonusa.com.
