Nice Shoes Posts HD Spot for Sony

Spot from Y&R Promotes Wega on HD Sports Broadcasts (September 23, 2004)

Sony Wega HD Entertainment Center

Nice Shoes recently provided a complete package of HD post production services for two 30-second television spots for Sony promoting its Wega HD home entertainment system. The post house performed color correction, compositing and editorial finishing to deliver both HD and standard def versions of the spots.

Conceived by Y&R Brands and directed by Joe Pytka, Todd features a man who, while watching football on his Wega Theater System, is surprised to find a crowd gathered on the street outside his apartment. Speaking in unison, the throng asks to join him. Noting that the Wega system delivers the ?ultimate in high definition picture in sound, the voice-over concludes ?everyone will want to watch.

In My Wife, a man being consoled by co-workers claims, ?Its my wife. It was just so sudden. Back home his wife and friend sit watching the new Grand Wega HD TV she bought for her husband. Her friend says, ?So, you finally broke down and got it for him?

The spots were edited by Adam Liebowitz at Go Robot and are aired extensively during NBCs coverage of the 2004 Olympics in both HD and SD TV.

Nice Shoes colorist Chris Ryan performed an HD Cam tape-to-tape color correct using the Da Vinci 2K. Inferno Artists Aaron Baxter and John Shea handled the bulk of the compositing work setting the football imagery into the Wega systems flat screen. Ed Skupeen kept busy on Discreet Flame doing touch-ups throughout the spots and intergrating composite work for HD finish.

?Nice Shoes runs on the same software which allows artists to share work through the network. Picking up a job in-process or sharing scenes is never a problem, said executive producer Pat Portela.

?Except for slightly longer processing time which is required while working in HD, the post went as smoothly as an normal NTSC job, Skupeen observed. ?Clients appreciated our ability to use multiple rooms to get the job done quickly and in turn were able to meet their schedule.
