NewTek Updates LightWave 3D

Version 7.5b gains enhanced scripting, Linux renderer By Dave Nagel
NewTek today released an update to LightWave 7.5, the company's 3D modeling and animation package. The new version, 7.5b, offers enhanced scripting and includes a new Linux network renderer. It's available now as a free update to registered users of LightWave 7.5.

According to NewTek, LightWave 7.5b includes a variety of scripting enhancements, including new commands, functions and classes. Other new features include Splinamate, a spline-controlled animation system, and SurfMixer, a new surface blending shader available through the Surface Editor. It allows the blending of surface characteristics of two or more objects into another object in the scene. The new version also adds support for DV devices for preview displays and a network renderer for Linux systems.

LightWave 7.5b is available now for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows as a free update for registered users of version 7.5. The full release costs $1,595. For more information, visit
