NewTek Promotes Dr. Andrew Cross to VP of Video Software Engineering

Promotion recognizes Cross's contributions to the development and innovation of NewTek's video product line (October 24, 2001)
NewTek announced today that it has promoted Dr. Andrew Cross to the position of Vice President of Video Software Engineering.

"Andrew has made extraordinary contributions to the development of the Video Toaster [2]. His unique understanding of the complexities of video and graphics programming combined with his ability to incorporate the needs of the video producer have resulted in a comprehensive, integrated video production environment that is not only powerful, but easy to use," said Tim Jenison, Founder and CTO of NewTek.


In his new position, Cross will oversee the day-to-day activities of the video software development team. Additionally, Cross will be the driving force behind the ongoing development and expansion of NewTek's video software line.

"Andrew possesses a rare combination of technical knowledge and management skills," said Jim Plant, President and CEO of NewTek. "He has led an extremely talented team of software engineers to produce and deliver one of the most innovative video products on the market. Andrew has also proven himself an excellent ambassador to our community of end users, listening to their needs, responding to their inquiries and delivering the product they asked for."

Cross joined NewTek in 1998 as a senior software engineer. Since that time Cross was promoted to lead engineer on the Video Toaster[2] project. Prior to joining NewTek, Cross was a freelance programmer of graphics software including GenesisVfX a special effects program for use with NewTek's LightWave 3D animation system. Cross has a Bachelor of Science degree from The Victoria University of Manchester and Doctorate of Philosophy from The University of York.
