NewTek Announces Breakthrough Pricing for Professional 3D

LightWave 3D single user license MSRP of $795 brings high-end 3D to the masses (August 01, 2005)

NewTek, Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading 3D animation and video products, today announced that Emmy award-winning LightWave 3D will be available at a greatly reduced suggested retail price. With a full $800 price reduction from $1595 to the new price of $795, NewTek is once again setting a new price/performance standard for the professional 3D industry. NewTek also announced a special promotion for purchasers of LightWave [8] full and upgrade editions to receive free upgrades to LightWave v9.0 upon its release.

"NewTek has always led the way on making professional 3D tools affordable, and this new pricing makes LightWave 3D the easy choice for any artist or producer," said Jay Roth, President of NewTek's 3D Products Division. "Designed from the ground up for fast, easy productivity in the most demanding environments and for tight integration with other production tools, nothing matches the incredible value of the comprehensive, production-proven toolset of LightWave 3D at this price."

NewTek's LightWave 3D combines a state-of-the-art photo-realistic renderer with intuitive and powerful modeling and animation tools. Tools that cost extra in many other professional 3D applications are part of the standard package, including hard- and soft-body dynamics, cloth simulation, particle system, fur, 999 render nodes and much, much more. LightWave is used worldwide as a complete 3D production solution for broadcast graphics, games, print, web, and visual effects for film and television.

"When NewTek first brought affordable 3D to film and television production more than a decade ago, I suggested, based on the pricing of the nearest competitors, that LightWave's pitch line should be 'Cheaper than a House,'" said Ron Thornton, multiple Emmy-winning visual effects producer. "It took nearly ten years for other professional packages to grow humble enough to finally follow suit and bring prices a little closer to earth, but they've done so only with severely cut-down versions, many of those still more expensive than LightWave. NewTek's new price means that for any artist or producer the choice for professional 3D is indeed a no-brainer LightWave 3D is the power you need at the price you can afford."
