New LWA Digital Material Format Supported by ARCHITREND Z and ARCHITREND Virtual House Rendering Software

Users of Fukui Computer?s new LWA-enabled CAD applications have access to LightWorks digital real-world materials (February 21, 2006)

LightWork Design, the world's leading supplier of rendering solutions for developers of advanced 3D computer graphics software, is pleased to announce the release by Fukui Computer Inc. of two more LWA-Enabled rendering applications. ARCHITREND Z and ARCHITREND Virtual House from Fukui Computer Inc. are the latest applications to become LWA-Enabled, giving users access to a wide range of real-world digital materials available in the LWA format downloadable from

The recently released ARCHITREND Z incorporates new LWA-Enabled capabilities, provided by the LightWorks rendering engine. At the same time Fukui Computer also chose to add the LightWorks rendering engine into the latest version of the ARCHITREND Virtual House application, specifically to give their users access to LWA-Enabled materials.

The LWA format is a secure digital material format, for use in LWA- Enabled applications, which allows manufacturers and material suppliers to accurately encode the visual and physical characteristics of their products. By using LWA-Enabled applications, designers can accurately select, visualize and specify real-world materials and products during the design, modeling and styling processes. The LWA files available include a wide range of real-world materials and other entities, and archives from leading building product suppliers in Japan Tostem, Roof Tostem, Asahi Tostem Exterior Building Materials, Matsushita Electric Works and Kubota Matsushitadenko Exterior Works are planned to be released soon, which will be of particular interest to users of ARCHITREND Z and ARCHITREND Virtual House. The LWA file format encodes the colour of materials but also the reflectance, roughness and transparency so LWA gives users significantly more accurate visualisations than older digital material formats.

Clive Davies, Partner Program Manager at LightWork Design, commented, "The new access to LWA materials will allow users of Fukuis applications to access the growing number of high quality digital building materials, making it even easier for them to select and specify real-world building products."
