New Goodwill Hires Bring Ideas, Experience
(September 07, 2012)San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 07, 2012
The San Francisco Goodwill team has added a pair of seasoned starters to its formidable lineup.
Joshua Lachs and Linda Parker Pennington have joined Goodwill of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marins executive leadership team as the new workforce & community engagement chief and interim human resources chief, respectively, CEO Deborah Alvarez-Rodriguez announced on Tuesday.
Alvarez-Rodriguez called Lachs a seasoned leader with more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit education and talent development organizations.
As the new chief of workforce development & community engagement, Lachs will direct all programs and talent development services for Goodwill participants, employees and community partners.
Alvarez-Rodriguez credited Lachs with implementing some truly innovative programs during a career in continuing adult education and workforce training.
As dean of John F. Kennedy Universitys Extended University Division, Lachs Hub for Educational Innovation produced four new educational programs for adult learners. He led the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership a cross-sector partnership of public, private and non-profit higher education designed to advance economic development in low-income communities through leadership training. Lachs also designed and implemented the Green Career Initiative at JFK University, centered on training and developing unemployed and under-skilled people seeking entry into green economy jobs.
Joshua is deeply committed to building highly effective collaborative teams and developing the talent of all people, Alvarez-Rodriguez said.
Pennington is taking on the newly established position of chief of human resources on an interim basis. Calling the HR department the backbone of our organization, Alvarez-Rodriguez says she created the new position because of the departments critical role in supporting Goodwills employees and participants.
A founding co-chair of Women of Color Action Network, Pennington has amassed 20 years of experience at top-tier companies like Apple Computer, Google, eBay, and nonprofits like Tides Center and Womens Initiative.
She is a gifted executive with a long and distinguished career in human resources, Alvarez-Rodriguez said of Pennington.
Penningons role will include directing recruitment and talent acquisition, succession planning, compensation and benefits management, employee relations, and regulatory compliance, among other tasks.
Both Lachs and Pennington will work closely with Alvarez-Rodriguez, Goodwills board of directors, and members of the executive and senior leadership teams in shaping the for-profit social enterprises overarching strategies, plans and objectives.
And they wont be doing it from the bench.
