New Broadcast Newsroom Portal Launched

Digital Media Online launches 22-site portal for Broadcast Professionals (August 28, 2006)

Digital Media Online  (DMO) has launched the Broadcast Newsroom portal, the latest additions to the DMO portfolio of publications. DMO now offers more than 125 online publications and newsletters, strengthening its position as a leading provider of information for readers in the digital media, broadcast, consumer electronics, and IT/Enterprise markets.

The Broadcast Newsroom (BN) portal consists of the main  portal site plus 21 distinct sites focused on broadcast industry issues. These sites include Acquisition, Production, HD, DTV, Storage, Facilities, People, Radio, Webcast, and Hardware & Software. In addition, there are sites for the two major industry tradeshows, NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) and IBC (International Broadcasters Convention). Broadcast Newsroom also includes sites with dedicated coverage of major industry vendors, such as Avid, Canon, Grass Valley, JVC, Miranda, Panasonic, Quantel and Sony. All the sites are closely integrated together, so navigation from one topic and site to the next is seamless and natural.

In addition, BN has four free e-newsletters designed to keep readers up to date on the different issues and topics in the broadcast market. This includes the new daily Broadcast Newswire, which will mail each business day with the latest news on technology and companies, plus weekly feature-rich e-newsletters such as Waveform for broadcast technology, HD Weekly, for issues in HDTV, and Streamline, covering the webcasting and streaming markets.

Along with articles written by BN staff and contributors, the BN portal and e-newsletters will also provide readers with company news from Business Wire, PR Newswire, and DMN Newswire , plus technology and industry-specific news from The Associated Press.

"We know both from direct feedback and watching the click-throughs that increasing numbers of our customers and prospects are relying on DMN strands as one of their principal sources of industry news and product information, said Roger Thornton, Head of Publicity at Quantel. ?That's why we support it and it works well for us."

"The BN suite of sites offers product reviews, technology features, tutorials, and business-oriented coverage of the broadcast industry, with an emphasis on practical information that managers, engineers and production specialists can put to use immediately," said DMOs VP of Editorial Frank Moldstad. "We'll give decision-makers the information they need, so they can make accurate choices about the products and technologies they deploy and use."

"Broadcast Newsroom gives professionals a source where they can drill down and find the information they need fast. BN is designed for easy access to topics and the specific companies that interest readers most, giving them the information they need when they need it," said Executive Editor Charlie White. "We're putting a major effort into gathering the best and most extensive collection of broadcast information on the Web, and now it's all aggregated into one place."
