Nev. IHOP shooter feared demons were after him

Officials: Gunman in Carson City IHOP rampage was schizophrenic, feared demons were after him By The Associated Press

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) ' New information from police says a northern Nevada gunman feared demons were after him in the months before his deadly rampage at a Carson City IHOP restaurant.

The Nevada Appeal reports ( ) that 32-year-old Eduardo Sencion had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 1999.

His family tells authorities he avoided intimate relationships because he feared passing his illness to children.

Police say Sencion shot himself dead after killing four and wounding seven in the Sept. 6 shooting.

Details about Sencion's mental health come from a presentation authorities are scheduled to deliver at the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association's annual meeting Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Relatives also tell police Sencion immersed himself in the Bible and said he heard voices telling him to do "bad things" to people.
