Network Electronics Celebrate 10th Anniversary at NAB 2006

Introducing a record-breaking number of new products (February 15, 2006)

More than 30 additions to the manufacturers well-received and established VikinX and flashlink lines will be launched in booth SU 199 at the show which will be held in the Las Vegas Convention Center from April 22 - 27.

flashlink PRODUCTS
NAB 2006 will see Network Electronics flashlink platform enhanced to address new fiber optic transport applications. The Company will premiere a SDI time division multiplexer/de-multiplexer, and is taking the next step into IP with a IPTV gateway solution that will allow real time transport of SDI digital video via IP networks.

L-Band electrical to optical/optical to electrical interface LB-EO/LB-OE
Network Electronics will introduce LB-EO/OE the first product in a new line of flashlink fiber optic interfacility products for the transport of analog RF signals covering applications in earth stations, CATV head-ends and broadcast facilities.

The LB-EO/OE products offer reliable, high quality L-Band transport to overcome the limitations of conventional coaxial cable systems. The LB-EO/OE transmitter/receiver permit transport distances ranging from 100 meters (328 feet) to more than 50km (30 miles). CWDM optical multiplexing technology enables up to 16 L-Band signals to be transported on a single fiber. When used with other flashlink interface products, L-band signals can be transmitted in combination with numerous signal formats including analog video/audio, digital video/audio, HDTV, Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet. Formats can all be combined on a single fiber via optical multiplexing.

The LB-EO is uniquely able to control digital gain settings remotely allowing them to be used for various antenna positions, thus avoiding the disadvantages of AGC solutions.

SDI Time Division Multiplexer/De-multiplexer SDI-TD-MUX-4/SDI-TD-DMUX-4
Addressing the need for transmission of multiple video channels on single wavelengths, Network will introduce the flashlink SDI-TD-MUX-4. The product is capable of time division multiplexing four SDI, DVB-ASI or SDTI signals into one HD signal. Being the only product that multiplexes in accordance with the SMPTE 346M-2000 standard, it allows usage of a standard HD infrastructure for transport and switching of the multiplexed signal. Both SDI and DVB-ASI are accepted synchronous or asynchronous and will be format detected automatically. Loss of input feed while transmitting will not affect the remaining channels. A built-in routing switcher allows channel swapping on both MUX and DMUX devices.

The high performance optics for both laser and PIN diode guarantee troublefree transport of video content even in critical long haul applications within video contribution networks. Low cost versions are available to accommodate the requirements in the shorter haul.

The product is GYDA enabled, providing WEB and SNMP interfaces with comprehensive monitoring and alarming options.

SDI to IP Gateway SDI-IP-GTW
The SDI-IP-GTW provides an IPTV gateway solution for the transmission of uncompressed SDI over IP networks. Being a member of the flashlink product portfolio, SDI-IP-GTW allows the real-time contribution and distribution of SDI over Wide Area Networks (WAN) where access to dark fiber or wavelengths is limited. Like other products in the flashlink family, the SDI-IP-GTW provides uncompromising video quality with no signal degradation. An advanced forward error correction mechanism guarantees high quality of service. The SDI-IP-GTW is the only product available that provides standard compliant SDI over IP transport in accordance with Pro-MPEG Code-of-Practice #4.

In addition, Network will be demonstrating the new flashlink award-winning AV-HD-XMUX high definition audio embedder/de-embedder series. The modules ability to take audio embedding beyond traditional boundaries for unparalleled functionality was acknowledged with both a STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) from TV Technology, and a Pick Hit award from Broadcast Engineerings World Edition.

The compact and multi-functional AV-HD-XMUX line offers multi-format SD/HD support. AV-HD-XMUX provides both Embedder and De-embedder in one product and offers both optical inputs and outputs as options. AV-HD-XMUX embeds 4 AES streams with selectable sample rate conversion allowing sampling rates from 8kHz-216kHz. In addition, the card offers embedding of one RS-422 serial interface with up to 115200 kbps baudrate. AV-HD-XMUX has comprehensive audio processing functions with group swap, channel shuffle, L/R inversion and variable delay.
