Neighbor says Ohio teen suspect was normal kid

Neighbor describes Ohio school shooting suspect as a respectful teen, academic achiever By The Associated Press

CHARDON, Ohio (AP) ' A family friend who lives next door to the 17-year-old suspect in a deadly rampage at an Ohio high school describes him as a normal boy who was excelling academically.

Pastor Steve Sawczak (SAW'-chack) on Wednesday told The Associated Press that suspect T.J. Lane was an average kid who didn't exhibit any signs of being troubled.

A prosecutor says Lane has admitted taking a .22-caliber pistol to Chardon High and firing 10 shots at a group of students sitting at a cafeteria table on Monday, killing three.

Sawczak says he's lived next to Lane's grandparents for almost 25 years and is a family friend. He says the grandparents gave Lane a healthy place to live.

He says Lane played outside frequently with his sister, building snow hills and skateboarding.
