NaviSite Serves Over 750,000 Streams During 2001 Wimbledon Tournament

NaviSite, Inc. has announced that its streaming media management and distribution platform, streamOS, delivered over three-quarters of a million streams during the two week 2001 Wimbledon Championships. Sixteen thousand concurrent viewers tuned in to watch the live webcast of one of the most dramatic men's finals in Wimbledon history. streamOS' flexibility and scalability were again proven when the finals were rescheduled at the last minute due to weather delays at the tournament. The streams were viewed from the Wimbledon Channel, which was produced by TWIinteractive for the official Wimbledon website (, developed and hosted by IBM.

In addition to its recent streaming of Wimbledon, NaviSite has streamed a number of other high-profile events, including Madonna's London Brixton Academy concert in November 2000, one of the largest live Internet broadcasts in history, and footage of the dramatic re-entry of the MIR space station.
