Native Instruments Updates Reaktor

New version gets smoother performance, improved stability By Dave Nagel
Native Instruments has released an update to Reaktor 4, the company's audio production suite that includes synthesis, sampling and effects. The new 4.0.3 version is a minor update incorporating small bug fixes, as well as performance and stability improvements. It's available now for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows.

Reaktor 4, released in May, is the latest release of Native's flagship software synth, sampler and effects generator. The fourth-generation suite offers support for Mac OS X, a new library, graphical sample mapping, snapshot morphing and randomization. It also receives an integrated browser with drag and drop support, improved VST support, redesigned interface, improved oscillators from the Pro-53 and several new modules. And it allows users to generate their own sound machines.

The new 4.0.3 update offers "countless minor improvements and optimizations," according to Native, providding smoother operation and improved performance under Mac OS X. The new version also gains a beta RTAS plugin for Mac OS X and AKAI import under Mac OS 9. A full list of improvements is available on the company's Web site.

Reaktor 4.0.3 is a free update for current Reaktor users. The full version runs $499. For more information, visit
