Native Instruments Releases Pro-53

Vintage synth uses new oscillator technology By Dave Nagel
Native Instruments has released Pro-53, the third generation of the company's vintage virtual analog software synth. The synth is fashioned after the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5. The company says the new version has been "vastly improved" with new oscillator technology for warmer sound.

The Pro-53 also features a high-pass filter mode, invertible filter envelope and a reworked control surface. Other new features include:

  • Expanded LFO functionality, including synchronization with the MIDI clock;
  • Simplified functionality for processing external signals;
  • More versatile MIDI implementation;
  • The filter can now be switched from a normal low-pass filter to a high-pass filter.

The Pro-53 is available now for Macintosh and Windows. It sells for $199. Registered users of the Pro-52 synth will be able to update for free when an updater becomes available. For more information, visit
