Native Announces Absynth 2, Reaktor 4Reaktor Session, Vokator, Intakt, Kompakt and Traktor Final Scratch also shown at Musikmesse
None of the new products announced by Native Instruments are quite ready to ship yet. The first up, scheduled to be released later this month, is Vokator, which Native bills as a "virtual sound fusion laboratory." It's a vocoder that incorporates a synthesizer and granular sampler. Its FFT spectral engine uses 1,024 frequency bands and allows for combining pairs of vocoding channels. Supported interfaces include VST 2.0, MAS, Audio Units, DXi II, ASIO, Soundmanager, CoreAudio, DirectSound and OMS. It will be available for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows.
Coming up for an April release is Reaktor 4, Native's fourth-generation "modular sound studio." Reaktor is a core engine that allows users to to design and build their own instruments, samplers, effects and sound design tools. The new version gains new modules and interface elements, an integrated browser, graphical sample mapping and new preset functions. It also gains support for Mac OS X.
Absynth, like Reaktor 4, is also in line for an upgrade to Mac OS X. The new version--2.0--is being shown off at Musikmesse, though it's not expected to ship until May. Absynth is a modular software synthesizer for Macintosh and Windows. According to Native, the new version has been improved "in every dimension," including synthesis and sound design capabilities, as well as improved compatibility and integration. It will include integrated and granular sampling, improved VST integration and more advanced envelope control.
Other new announcements from Native Instruments include:
- Reaktor Session, a collection of studio tools and virtual instruments for music production, including synthesizers, groove machines, samplers and live tools and effects. It's scheduled for an OS X update in April.
- Intakt, a sampler designed specifically for rhythmicx loop playback and manipulation. It's scheduled for an OS X revision in September.
- Kompakt, a professional sampler with sound design capabilities. It will be released for Mac OS X in August.
- Traktor Final Scratch, which is a merger of Stanton's Final Scratch and Native's own Traktor DJ Studio. Traktor Final Scratch will be released for Mac OS X first in April, with a Windows version following later in the year.
