Nations Compete for Cyber World Cup in ZeroCup

ZerCup Recreates Soccer Tournies, Complete With Stadium, Advertisers By Denise Harrison
This is so fun!! Cenozoic, a Korean developer, is working on a 3D online soccer game in which 22 players can play together in real time. Unique to ZeroCup is that it includes tournament modes such as country vs. country or continental competitions.

There is a hierarchy of players - players must practice to improve their skills and those who become the best players are chosen as nation representatives and are eligible for the "big" games such as the Cyber World Cup.

Beta is happening now and, unfortunate for those of us in the U.S., plans are to release the game to Korea, Europe and Japan only. A spokesperson for the company says that those markets contain more avid soccer fans than the U.S. but the company will likely consider the U.S. market later.

This is the company's first major major game release, said the spokesperson.

Cenozoic used NDL NetImmerse's engine and development toolkit for the game.

"We found the flexibility and compatibility we were looking for in a game engine with NetImmerse," says Mr. Rio Ahn, Cenozoic research and development manager. "With the MyImmerse plug-in, we are able to get real-time feedback on our Maya content, substantially shortening our development time for ZeroCup."
