NY pharmacy slaying driver gets 25 years in prisonNY woman who drove husband to deadly pharmacy holdup for painkillers is sentenced to 25 years
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) ' The getaway driver in a New York pharmacy drug heist that left four people dead has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Melinda Brady was sentenced Thursday on Long Island. She pleaded guilty to robbery charges.
Her husband also is being sentenced.
David Laffer pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the June holdup at Haven Drugs in Medford.
Laffer, a 33-year-old Army veteran, has said he committed the robbery because he had lost his job. He said his wife required not only painkillers but also blood pressure medicine, anti-nausea pills and muscle relaxants.
He jammed a backpack full of pills after killing the four victims.
