NY cooperator testifies against Jamaican drug bossJailed gangster testifies against Jamaican drug kingpin Coke at NYC sentencing hearing
NEW YORK (AP) ' A jailed Jamaican gangster is testifying in New York City against notorious drug kingpin Christopher "Dudas" Coke.
Jermaine Cohen took the witness stand Tuesday at a sentencing hearing for Coke in federal court in Manhattan.
The 37-year-old Cohen told a judge that he was among the armed young men that Coke used to secure his stronghold in a Jamaican slum. He claimed that Coke spread fear by ordering shootings and robberies of rivals.
Coke pleaded guilty to U.S. charges last year. The government is offering testimony from cooperators in the hope that it will persuade the judge to give Coke the maximum 23 years in prison.
