NJ school bus crash kills 1, injures 17NJ trooper's child killed, triplet sisters injured, in school bus crash; 17 injuries in all
CHESTERFIELD, N.J. (AP) ' Officials say 17 students were injured in a southern New Jersey school bus crash that killed the daughter of a state trooper and critically injured two other children.
The accident happened Thursday morning at a four-way intersection in the Burlington County town of Chesterfield, south of Trenton, sending the bus crashing sideways into a traffic signal pole.
The 11-year-old girl who died was a triplet, a person briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press. The person said both her sisters were on the bus and both were injured ' one seriously. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release details.
The crash happened just after 8 a.m. Authorities say there were 25 children on the bus.
Both the bus driver and the driver of the dump cross involved in the crash were hospitalized but neither was seriously injured.
