NJ jury pool shrinks in Rutgers webcam spying caseNJ jury pool shrinks in trial of ex-Rutgers student accused of using webcam to spy on roommate
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) ' The pool of prospective jurors has shrunk from 190 to just more than 100 for the trial of a former Rutgers student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate's intimate encounter with another man.
The judge and lawyers in the case agreed to eliminate 82 members from the pool Tuesday because of the views they expressed on questionnaires. Berman says most of the jurors are aware of the case against 19-year-old old Dharun Ravi (DAHR'-uhn RAH'-vee).
Twelve people and at least two alternates will ultimately sit on the jury.
The case sparked a national conversation about bullying on young gays after Tyler Clementi committed suicide in 2010 by jumping off the George Washington Bridge.
Jurors will be asked to come to court starting Wednesday for deeper questioning.
