NI Brings Audio Units to Vokator

Free update available for Mac OS X By Dave Nagel
Native Instruments has released an update to Vokator, a combination vocoder, synth and sampler. The 1.0.2 update provides Audio Units support for Mac OS X and is available now.

Vokator, which Native bills as a "virtual sound fusion laboratory," is a vocoder that incorporates a synthesizer and granular sampler. Its FFT spectral engine uses 1,024 frequency bands and allows for combining pairs of vocoding channels. It includes more than 400 presets and about 300 MB of samples. Supported interfaces include VST 2.0, MAS, Audio Units, DXi II, ASIO, Soundmanager, CoreAudio, DirectSound and OMS.

The Vokator 1.0.2 update is for Mac OS X only. It adds support for Audio Units, allowing Vokator to be run as an Audio Units plugin in a compatible host sequencer, including Logic 6. (Note that Native says there's a bug with Vokator 1.0.2 running under Logic 6.1 but that an update will be available to fix this in the near future.)

Vokator 1.0.2 is available now as a free update for Vokator users. The full version is available for $299. The Windows version remains at version 1.0.1. For more information, visit
