NEC Ships New LCD Monitors

Models start at $799 By Dave Nagel
NEC-Mitsubishi today announced two new models in its line of LCD monitors. The company says it's trying to eliminate price as a barrier to those who want to move to LCD technology. The new models start at $799.

The $799 NEC MultiSynch LCD1720M is a 17-inch LCD display. With a 17-inch viewable area, it compares in size with a 19-inch CRT monitor. The monitor has internal front-firing multimedia speakers built into its 3.4-inch deep frame, weighing 16.1 pounds with its stand. The NEC MultiSync LCD1720M offers a viewing angle of 160 degrees horizontally and vertically through NEC's XtraView wide-viewing angle technology.

The other new model, the LCD1850E, is an 18-inch LCD screen. It's priced at $899 and features proprietary color algorithms that support the sRGB color reproduction standard. It provides near edge-to-edge viewing and features No-Touch Auto Adjust, OSM on-screen controls, and XtraView technology. The LCD1850E measures 3.1 inches deep and weighs 18.7 pounds with the stand.
