NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display Ships Sub $400 15-Inch LCD Monitor

Features include thin frame design (October 16, 2001)
NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc. has introduced the NEC MultiSync LCD1550V at a price point of $399 ESP. The 15-inch NEC MultiSync LCD1550V is the second model in NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display's new family of thin-frame LCD monitors. Replacing the NEC MultiSync LCD1530V, the NEC MultiSync LCD1550V combines innovative features in a slim package at an even lower price point.

NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display is the first vendor to incorporate the thin-frame design, currently found in computer notebook screens, in its new line of LCD monitors. The slim casing of the NEC MultiSync LCD1550V allows it to be situated flush against other monitors for a more uniform multiple viewing experience -- saving up to 12 percent more horizontal space than prior LCD monitors. When operating the monitor in a single, standalone configuration, users enjoy a streamline design without the distraction of the plastic border that surrounds conventional LCD display screens. Weighing 8.4 lbs with its stand and measuring 2.4-inches deep, the NEC MultiSync LCD1550V can also be easily mounted on a wall. The NEC MultiSync LCD1550V combines the bright image quality and wide compatibility of the NEC MultiSync LCD1530V, as well as additional benefits including optional touch and protective glass integration. The NEC MultiSync LCD1550V provides a native resolution of 1024 x 768 and features NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display's latest On Screen Manager (OSM(R)) display controls for precise monitor adjustments.

Additional Features for the NEC MultiSync LCD1550V

  • Compatible with PC and Apple Macintosh computers

  • Wall/arm mounting capabilities

  • No Touch Auto Adjust provides optimal display settings upon initial power on

  • LiquidView software allows for large font/icon/tool and task bar sizes at native resolution for easier readability

  • High-bright backlight at 200 cd/m2

In addition, flat-panel monitors offer significant savings in power consumption and cooling power. NEC-Mitsubishi Electronic Display's Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) matrix shows that depending on the current energy rates and other factors, using LCD monitors instead of CRT monitors may result in a 34 percent power consumption savings.

The MultiSync LCD1550V is now available through authorized NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display resellers at an estimated street price of $399 in both black and white cabinet options. NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display's monitors are backed by a three-year limited warranty including backlight. Technical support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 1-800-632-4662.
