NAB: JVC Brings GY-DV300 and KA-DV300 to the MacThree-CCD camera records to tape, streams MPEG-4 simultaneously
The JVC GY-DV300 is a three-CCD hand-held camcorder with the capability of recording simultaneously to tape and providing MPEG-4 program content for streaming over the Internet. The camera now incorporates support for Apple's QuickTime 6 for streaming and wireless applications. JVC has also announced that the GY-DV300 will provide ISMA compliant MPEG-4 program content in the near future. Currently, QuickTime has more than 100 million users, according to Apple. Features include:
- Manually controllable 14:1 power zoom lens;
- 12-bit digital A/D;
- 24-bit digital signal processing (DSP);
- 700-line resolution;
- PCM audio;
- Optical image stabilizer;
- FireWire interface;
- 0.5-inch color LCD viewfinder;
- XLR microphone inputs;
- 4:3 to 16:9 (letterbox) switchable;
- 115dB smear rejection.
The KA-DV300 network package attaches to the camcorder and provides a slot for a LAN card or CompactFlash card for end-user control over camera functions from a remote location. The network package, available separately or bundled with the GY-DV300U, includes an integrated fully functional Web server for full control over the camera, lens and VCR, as well as the ability to stream live using a standard Web browser. JVC says all KA-DV300U network packs shipped after April 1 will incorporate the QuickTime upgrade. Users can also download an update from the JVC Web site.
The GY-DV300 sells for $3,495. A kit including both the camera and the KA-DV300 sells for $4,644. For more information, visit http://www.jvc.com/pro.
