NAB 2008: Red Giant SoftwareGiant presentations of plugins from RGS
While there were several presentations during the four days at NAB in the Red Giant Software booth (in the Plugin Pavilion), the one that I was particularly interested in was the demo of Peder's new plugin called Horizon. Horizon is a utility plugin. Unlike last year's Form plugin, which is most decidedly a design tool, the new plugin will help you with your After Effects camera control, allowing you to easily pair up the movements of 3D camera and background.
Red Giant Software also showed off a few other new products including Instant HD Pro, Magic Bullet Steady, Primatte Keyer Pro 4 and Radium Glow.
Radium Glow is a new set of plugins which will help you to quickly set up that "instant sex" look (see Chris Meyer tutorial). Of course, it works on the luminance values within the video, but another features in the plugin package allows for Z-Depth glow values based on a secondary layer.
Harry in the Red Giant Software Booth / NAB 2008
This year at the booth, Harry Frank of ToolFarm and Making It Look Great showed off the Trapcode plugins with a demo that offered all kinds of tricks using Trapcode Form. If you missed it, you can find links to Harry's tutorials on his site: www.GRAYMACHINE.com

Ko Maruyama is a freelance animator in Los Angeles. In addition to working on film and broadcast animations, Ko teaches at Pasadena's Art Center College of Design - focusing on motion design. When working, writing or testing software allows, you can find him lending a hand in the After Effects board and lurking among the Cinema4D, Visual Effects and Photoshop posts within the DMNForums.
