NAB 2007 Hot Product: Gridiron Softwares Nucleo Pro 2 makes rendering easy

By David Basulto

Being an avid After Effects user I have grown to love Gridiron Softwares Nucleo Pro. Nucleo Pro is plug in for After Effects 7 that allows you to use the full power of your processors when rendering, as well as render in the background. Rendering in the background allows you to continue working in After Effects instead of waiting around until the render is done. Continuous work means finishing projects faster.

What's new in Nucleo Pro 2?
How about drag and dropping 3D projects from such applications as Maxon Cinema 4D, Autodesk 3ds max, Autodesk Maya, Softimage XSI, Apple Shake, Side Effects Software Houdini, Mental Images Metal Ray, and SplutterFish Brazil into the Nucleo Pro 2 background render queue? As a Cinema 4D user this is a tremendous new feature. I can now do my work in Cinema 4D, send it over to the Nucleo Pro 2 render queue and go to work in After Effects.

The other big new feature in Nucleo Pro 2 is the ability to customize how your nested comps are rendered. You can now flag a nested comp to render sub-compositions to an internal ?cache file format, and have the main composition render to the user specified output format. This dramatically improves render times.

What about CS3?
Nucleo Pro 2 will support After Effects CS 3 and both versions of After Effects 7.

Whats it cost?
Nucleo Pro 2 will be available in the summer 2007. You can pre-order the full version of Nucleo Pro 2 for $295 US (Full retail is $395 US) or the upgrade from Nucleo Pro 1 for $79 US (Full retail is $99 US) by visiting their website at www.gridironsoftware.com. If you are an After Effects user and havent tried Nucleo in your workflow do yourself a favor and try the demo. Its free.
