Mystery Suspense Novel "Step Over Rio" Shines Light on Child TraffickingAuthor and Child Advocate Martha Everhart Braniff's New Book Uncovers the Underbelly of US Human Trafficking Crime Rings (January 11, 2012)
LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/11/12 -- The sinister underground of human trafficking is the centerpiece of child advocate Martha Braniff's new mystery suspense novel, Step Over Rio published by independent press The Way Things Are Publications. The book follows the odyssey of a young Guatemalan boy whose journey to the United States is woven into a federal effort to bring down the kingpins of a child trafficking ring.
The mystery suspense novel, winner of the Writer's League of Texas Mystery Novel Award, is based upon Braniff's work with abused and neglected children and child immigrants over the past thirty years and on actual crimes researched through federal agencies. Her work in child advocacy brought her in regular contact with victimized children, the court process, street gangs and children caught in the dangerous world of child trafficking.
"Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day and we cannot conceive of a better time to announce the publication of Martha Everhart Braniff's critical book, Step Over Rio," said Jennifer Havenner, director of publishing for The Way Things Are Publications. "Martha's experience in child advocacy has given her a poignant perspective on a side of the immigration discussion many don't hear about. We believe that Martha's dedication to creating awareness of the treacherous world of child trafficking has produced a book that is pivotal in the national discussion."
The book will be available in hardcover in March 2012 at all major bookstores and online and is currently available for pre-order at http://www.waythingsare.com.
