Mylan, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette settle lawsuits

Drug firm Mylan, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette settle lawsuits over stories that prompted FDA review By The Associated Press

PITTSBURGH (AP) ' Generic-drug company Mylan and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette have settled two lawsuits stemming from stories that prompted a Food and Drug Administration review.

The lawsuits were filed by Mylan Inc. in 2009 in Monongalia County, W.Va., seeking financial damages.

One lawsuit said the newspaper omitted and distorted facts in an article that said employees at Mylan's Morgantown, W.Va., facility ignored warnings about manufacturing problems. The other lawsuit alleged the newspaper misappropriated trade secrets.

The FDA investigated and concluded Mylan did nothing wrong.

The Post-Gazette and Mylan said in a statement Friday the litigation has been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. The Post-Gazette says it didn't find and didn't intend to report that Mylan had manufactured or distributed any defective drugs.

Mylan is based in Canonsburg, a Pittsburgh suburb.
