Mutoh To Deliver 86-Inch, 2,880 DPI PrinterWide-format models to be shown off this week
The new models are available or will be available in 49-, 64- and 86-inch print widths, all designed for photographic output. They offer Dynamic Variable Dot imaging, adjustable head height, automatic media thickness compensation for media up to 1.5 mm thick and print speeds up to 430 sq. feet per hour. The printers handle up to eight colors with resolutions ranging from 360 x 360 DPI to 2,880 x 1,440 DPI.
The piezoelectric Dynamic Variable Dot imaging technology produces multiple, unique dot sizes. The Falcon II can adjust the size of the ink droplets from each of its nozzles on the fly, a process that is designed to produce finer detail and smoother gradients.
The Falcon II offers a variety of ink configuration options, including simultaneous CMYK pigment and dye.
Standard features of the Falcon II include a 128 MB image buffer, a 21 GB hard disk and a motorized media take-up system and automatic ink level monitoring. Available options include a 256 MB image buffer and a 100Base-T Ethernet interface.
Falcon II also includes the Thunderbird PS-1000, a PostScript-3 compatible network RIP server, which allows direct printing from any Macintosh or Windows application. Users can print with spooling capabilities to handle multiple jobs from multiple clients simultaneously. The RIP also features automatic job status reporting, unattended print monitoring and a graphical Web-based user interface.
