Muse Research Announces Receptor Upgrade

Plug-in player now has ADAT support with up to 10 outputs (February 01, 2005)

Muse Research, Inc. announced at NAMM the Version 1.2 software upgrade for Receptor, the ground-breaking hardware plug-in player. This software update for Receptor adds significant new features, including ADAT output support that increases the number of outputs to a total of ten. Also new in version 1.2 is Z-Load (patent-pending), which dramatically reduces the amount of time required to load a plug-in, as well as new MIDI mapping features with full support for keyboard zones and layers, improving Receptors functionality as a synth, sampler, and sound module. Version 1.2 software for Receptor is slated to ship in the first quarter of this year.

ADAT output support increases the number of outputs on Receptor
Although Receptor was designed as a sounds module for live use, it also serves as an external processor in the studio where it is often desirable to return individual channels of audio signals back to a DAW or mixer. For this reason Receptor has a built-in ADAT optical interface allowing 8 individual digital outputs in addition to the 2 S/PDIF outputs and 2 analog outputs.  Version 1.2 software redesigns the software mixer UI to support these outputs, and provides the user with complete routing control over the ADAT outputs as well as the S/PDIF output.

New MIDI mapping features enhance the sound module capabilities of Receptor
Version 1.2 software includes new MIDI mapping features, designed with the input of keyboardist and Receptor endorser Jordan Rudess. These MIDI mapping features allow the performer to easily set up multiple layers and splits in Receptor, making it an ideal tool for live performance regardless of music style.

?Receptor is an incredible source of inspiration in the studio, enabling me to live out my wildest sonic fantasies, comments Jordan Rudess, keyboardist with Dream Theater and Receptor user. ?What makes it even cooler is that in addition to being a great studio piece, it is an instrument that is totally road worthy. It will be racked up and ready to go for the next Dream Theater world tour.

Patent-applied-for ?Z-Load technology speeds plug-in loading
Muse Research is demonstrating a new technology in Receptor that makes it possible to load plug-ins in just milliseconds, versus the several seconds or sometimes tens of seconds required by a computer. Z-load technology was developed by Muse Research to further enhance Receptor as the ultimate synth / sampler / sound module.

Version 1.2 is just the beginning
Receptor was designed from the beginning to easily network with Macs or PCs, through which you can upgrade software and add new features. Version 1.2 software is the second release of software since the introduction of Receptor, and is available free to all Receptor customers by visiting the www. website.
