Muddy clothes, shovel seized from Mo. teen killerAPNewsBreak: Authorities seized muddy clothes of Mo. teen killer, questioned her boyfriend
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) ' Authorities investigating the October 2009 disappearance of a central Missouri girl had seized muddy clothes and shovels from the home of a neighboring teenager who later confessed to killing and burying the girl. They also had repeatedly questioned the teen's boyfriend.
The previously undisclosed details of the investigation were released Monday in response to an open-records request made by The Associated Press. Alyssa Bustamante was sentenced last week to life in prison for the slaying of 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten.
Bustamante, who was 15 at the time, confessed to strangling and stabbing the girl in a small town just west of Jefferson City. She wrote in her diary that it was "ahmazing." Although he was questioned, a prosecutor said there was no evidence her boyfriend was involved in the crime.
