Moneyshots Names Arnett as Executive ProducerWill head new push for commercial EFX work (August 12, 2004)
Moneyshots has hired Paula Arnett as executive producer. Arnett will oversee day-to-day operations, direct sales and marketing and spearhead strategic planning for the studio, which provides visual effects and animation services for commercials and music videos. She arrives from digital asset management specialist Sample Digital where she headed its streaming media service SampleReels.com.
Arnett will work to support Moneyshots’ current expansion effort, and will focus in particular on growing its advertising work. Her long-term goals include moving the company into visual effects for feature films and entertainment television.
“We’ve recently had a lot of success with advertising, but we have the potential to do much more,” said Moneyshots creative director Elad Offer. “We conducted a lengthy search for an executive producer who could help us achieve that goal and found the ideal candidate. Paula brings a keen understanding of the commercial market and great contacts among agencies and production companies. She also shares the vision we have for our company’s future.”
“Moneyshots has been a well kept secret,” added Arnett. “They have been doing great work, but there are still a lot of agencies who are unaware of the talent and resources that this company has to offer. I intend to change that.” Moneyshots recent commercial work includes spots for Reebok (The Arnell Group) and Tommy Hilfiger (in-house).
Arnett joined Sample Digital in 2001. As vice president of sales and marketing, she helped the company launch its SampleReels.com service and built it into a leading provider of streaming media services to companies in the commercial, feature film and television industries. She helped to educate commercial and feature film producers in the use of streaming media and digital asset management technologies. She also gained broad experience in post production technologies and practices.
Previously, Arnett headed sales at the commercial production company Straw Dogs (now Form) for two years and held a similar position with Bedford Falls for four years. At the latter company, she established a music video division and also recruited commercial and music video directors. She began her career with Neal Tardio Productions in New York and also held a sales position with the Los Angeles-based music video producer The End (now Believe Media).
Arnett noted that Moneyshots has garnered praise for its work on such music videos as Outkast’s Hey Ya, a winner of numerous awards including an MVPA Award as Video of the Year, Nelly Furtado’s Powerless (Say What You Want), a winner of a Much Music Award for Best Pop Video and The Way You Move, a video by Outkast and Sleepy Brown that recently won a BET Award Winner as Video of the Year.
Moneyshots’ experience in music videos, where they are often called upon to play a conceptual role, can be especially valuable to effects-heavy commercial assignments, according to Arnett. “Today, effects providers are becoming increasingly involved in commercials at the storyboard stage. Post is no longer an afterthought,” she observed. “In light of that, it is important that agencies work with a company, like Moneyshots, who can participate at the level, who can help to educate agencies on how technology can be used to achieve their creative ideas.”
Moneyshots is located at 1425 5th St. Ste. C, Santa Monica, CA 90401. For more information, call (310) 458-4091 or visit www.moneyshotspost.com.
