Monaco Launches New Profiling Tools

New releases offer enhanced profile editing By Dave Nagel
Monaco Systems has launched new versions of its ICC profiling and proofing systems, including new versions of its flagship profiling tool, MonacoProfiler Gold and MonacoProfiler Platinum. All of the new versions gain enhanced support for profiling devices and improved monitor profiles. The new releases are available now.

New profiling tools include MonacoProof 3.7, MonacoProfiler Gold 4.6 and MonacoProfiler Platinum 4.6. MonacoProof is a basic tool for creating RGB and CMYK output profiles and provides profile editing capabilities for lightness, saturation and output curves. According to the company, MonacoProfiler Gold offers these features, along with expanded profile editing capabilities with editing for neutrals and grays, selective color editing and black generation control. MonacoProfiler Platinum also includes multi-color profiling for up to eight colors and digital camera profiling using the GretagMacbeth ColorChecker targets.

All of the new software includes reduced patch sets for both RGB (343 patches) and CMYK (378 patches) output devices; improved monitor profiles with instrument-assisted monitor contrast settings for LCDs; X-Rite DTP41B Series II spectrophotometer support with serial or USB cabling; and MonacoOptix colorimeter support for both CRT and LCD profiling.

MonacoProfiler Gold and Platinum also gain enhanced profile editing, including a profile whitepoint tag editor for adjusting the whitepoint of output profiles using LAB or Lch tools, as well as ECI (European Color Initiative) color test chart support.

MonacoProof 3.7 is available for $1,650. MonacoProfiler Gold sells for $2,950. And MonacoProfiler Platinum sells for $4,250. In addition, MonacoDCcolor (for creating digital camera profiles with the GretagMacbeth ColorChecker targets) is available for $400. The MonacoOptix colorimeter is available at $299. Monaco's profiling and proofing systems support Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows. For more information, visit http://www.monacosys.com.
