Modulus Video Reduces Bandwidth with MPEG-4 AVCVideo Pre-Processing option for the ME1000 boosts efficiency 15-20 percent (April 05, 2005)
Modulus Video, Inc. today announced its new Video Pre-Processing (VPP) option for the ME1000 AVC standard definition (SD) encoder for broadcast and other quality-driven video applications. The new VPP option ?cleans the source video, enabling the ME1000 to further deliver on Modulus twin goals of increasing image quality and reducing bandwidth requirements using MPEG-4 AVC.
VPP for ME1000 incorporates state of the art motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) technology, from LSI Logic, which has been specially tuned for Modulus Videos high performance MPEG-4 AVC systems. MCTF is recognized as the best and most effective way to remove noise from video, providing the encoder with a very pristine video source. This improvement makes it easier for the encoder to compress the video, enabling the ME1000 to further improve picture quality and reduce delivery bandwidth requirements. This capability is of critical importance to satellite, telco and IPTV broadcast business models where meeting high quality demands must be achieved within narrow bandwidth constraints.
Modulus Video has already commenced shipments of the VPP option and will offer live demonstrations of the ME1000 with VPP at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters convention scheduled for April 18-21 in Las Vegas, Booth SU9636.
