Miss. high court takes ex-gov pardons case

Miss. Supreme Court takes case involving former Gov. Haley Barbour's end-of-term pardons By The Associated Press

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) ' The Mississippi Supreme Court has decided to take up the legal challenge to former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour's end-of-term pardons.

The Supreme Court scheduled a hearing for Feb. 9. The Supreme Court's ruling late Wednesday means a lower court hearing on the matter won't happen Friday.

State Attorney General Jim Hood, a Democrat, wants to invalidate dozens of the 198 pardons that Republican Barbour handed out before his term ended Jan. 10. Ten of the people pardoned were still in prison when they got reprieves.
