Minolta Ships $799 Color Laser

Model offers 2,400 x 600 DPI resolution By Dave Nagel
Minolta-QMS has shipped a $799 color laser printer. The new model, called the Magicolor 2300 DL, offers a 2,400 x 600 DPI resolution and can print monochrome pages at 14 PPM and color pages at 4 PPM.

Minolta says the 2300 DL is made specifically for use with Windows-based PCs, though it includes 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet with TCP/IP support and USB 1.1 connectors, in addition to a PC-standard parallel interface. The company has not said whether this printer supports PostScript, PostScript emulation or some other standard. It runs off a 200 MHz PowerPC 405 chip and includes 32 MB RAM, expandable to 288 MB.

The 2300 DL supports paper sizes up to 8.5" x 14" and comes with a 200-sheet feeder. A 500-sheet feeder and automatic duplexer are optional. It measures 14" x 19.7" and weighs 55 pounds. The new model is available now for $799. For more information, visit
