Minerva Platform Powers Successful Delivery of Advanced Television Services Over 4G LTE Network in Texas

Etex Telephone Cooperative, a Member of the NetAmerica Alliance, Cooperates With Minerva to Successfully Trial Advanced Television Services Over a 4G Network (October 25, 2011)

ALVISO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/25/11 -- Minerva Networks, a leading provider of carrier-class platforms for the delivery of television services over IP networks, today announced that its new xTVFusion 5 for Broadband TV platform has been successfully deployed by MobiNet (a new business division of Etex), which has successfully tested the delivery of television services over a 4G LTE network in northeastern Texas.

As a subsidiary of Etex, MobiNet was formed to expand into new service areas. The television services tested by MobiNet were delivered over its 4G LTE broadband wireless network at bandwidths as low as 3 Mbps. The services include HD-like broadcast television, video-on-demand (VOD) and Internet TV.

Etex is a member of NetAmerica, an alliance of independent 4G license holders who have joined forces to deliver advanced 4G LTE mobile broadband solutions to rural America.

"Fourth generation (4G) wireless technology has created an opportunity to integrate wireline and wireless networks and to deliver the ultimate experience in the converged home of the future," said Charlie Cano, General Manager, at MobiNet. "We are very pleased with the performance of the Minerva xTVFusion platform over our wireless network as we believe it will open new service opportunities for customers regardless of the network technology sitting between them and the content they wish to access."

"The MobiNet trial is a great example of how our new xTVFusion for Broadband TV platform, combined with adaptive streaming technology, will enable operators to drastically extend the reach of their television services over both wireline and wireless networks," said Jean-Georges Fritsch, EVP of Products at Minerva Networks. "We are very encouraged by the positive feedback we have received from this field trial."
