Minerva Enables Operators to Deliver More Engaging Television Services Across a Broader Bandwidth SpectrumEnhanced Minerva xTVFusion 5 Platform Allows Operators to Reach, Engage and Monetize More Subscribers With a Better IPTV Offering and New Compelling Broadband TV Services (October 25, 2011)
NEW ORLEANS, LA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/25/11 -- TelcoTV 2011 -- Minerva Networks, the leading provider of software solutions for the delivery of television services over Internet Protocol networks (TV-over-IP), today announced enhancements to its xTVFusion 5 platform that enable operators to reach, engage, and monetize more subscribers with new, high-margin TV services. Service providers can now deliver richer capabilities to their high-bandwidth IPTV subscribers and offer new engaging linear and on-demand TV services (Broadband TV) to low-bandwidth subscribers. The enhanced Minerva xTVFusion 5 platform represents a breakthrough for the TV-over-IP marketplace as it gives operators the ability to deliver HD-like TV to the large base of lower-bandwidth subscribers for the first time ever.
"Operators can now offer television services to a much broader set of subscribers, even those with limited bandwidth to the home," said Mauro Bonomi, CEO of Minerva Networks. "We are enabling service providers to dramatically increase revenues from their existing customer base by making it possible for them to offer new entertainment packages that strengthen loyalty and enhance profitability at a time of increased competition and economic pressures."
Industry's First Broadband TV Solution: More Reach, More Revenue
With the enhanced Minerva xTVFusion 5 operators can offer two distinct TV packages based on available bandwidth. For customers with high-bandwidth connections ( >18Mbps), operators can deliver the industry's most advanced IPTV services with key features such as Whole-Home DVR, remote scheduling capabilities, and blended pay-TV and over-the-top (OTT) video programming. For customers with connections as low as 5Mbps, operators can deliver cost-effective HD-like linear and on-demand video services. Minerva refers to this new class of lower bandwidth services as Broadband TV. The combination of IPTV and Broadband TV gives operators the ability to address and monetize a much broader market than ever before.
"The enhanced Minerva platform allows us to offer rich services to more subscribers," said Patton Knox, R&D for video operations at Etex Telephone Cooperative, a Texas-based operator. "With Minerva, we can deliver compelling, personalized experiences to the majority of our broadband customers with minimum infrastructure and operational overhead."
New xTVFusion 5 features include remote scheduling, blended pay-TV and OTT TV experiences, and an improved user interface that engages subscribers and simplifies TV viewing. The Minerva platform also supports HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) for both linear and on-demand content enabling the delivery of HD-like services over most broadband connections.
The enhanced Minerva platform is now generally available. Pricing is available upon request from Minerva Sales. For contact information, please visit www.minerva.com.
