Mindavenue Develops LightWave 3D Importer

Allows exporting of LightWave content to the Web without programming By DMN Staff Writer
The new AXELedge 1.5 importer from MindAvenue allows LightWave 3D users on either Macs or PCs to create and publish interactive content to the Web without programming.

LightWave designers can import all content directly into AXEL, then use its Web authoring solution. AXELedge offers extensive interaction capabilities, according to MindAvenue, as well as advanced animation, modeling, relations and constraints, previewing and publishing features. It is all done through AXEL's drag and drop technology for interactive 3D Web content creation. Mac users receive the benefits of an Aqua-compliant user interface.

AXELedge's new movie texture support also gives LightWave animators the ability to import video and apply it as textures, for those working in 3D for television and video.

For Web surfers, AXEL's plug-in player delivers multi-platform content on Mac and Windows for both Internet Explorer and Netscape. The player is automatically downloaded on the user's machine when viewing content for the first time, integrating into the browser. The player's proprietary download format reinforces artists' copyright protection, inhibiting others from misappropriating or modifying content.

AXELedge 1.5 is available at Macworld 2002 for $950 (US MSRP), with an educational price of $245. A preview of the LightWave 3D Importer will be available for download to registered AXELedge users this month.
