Military: No sign of its material on hot rocksMilitary sees no indication that its material was on rocks that burned California woman
LOS ANGELES (AP) ' The military says there's no indication that any of its material got onto beach rocks that caught fire and badly burned a Southern California woman.
Orange County authorities say the rocks from a beach near the Camp Pendleton Marine base ignited in the pocket of the woman's cargo shorts on Saturday.
She's hospitalized with third-degree burns to her leg.
Denise Fennessy of the county's environmental health division said Thursday that field tests indicated phosphorus on the rocks.
Pendleton spokesman Capt. Barry Edwards says there's no evidence that material from training exercises was involved, but the base will cooperate if county authorities ask for assistance.
