Milagro Post Adds Quantel Pablo on iQ2 To Busy Facility

Leading Detroit-area studio ushers in DI commercials work (February 02, 2006)

Southfield, Michigan, USA-based Milagro Post announced today that it has greatly increased its editing and color correction capabilities by adding the new Quantel Pablo on iQ 2K next generation color correction suite to its arsenal of image processing tools.

In addition to its new grading capabilities, Milagro Post also hired DI Colorist Rick Unger. Unger previously spent 11 years as a traditional colorist at Oak Park, Michigan-based GTN.

?Were very excited about the introducing this new DI workflow to our clients, many of whom are editorial houses, said Michael Suggs, President of Milagro Post. ?We are not only happy to have the Pablo for the sake of its groundbreaking technology, but also for our artists. Our designers are looking forward to seeing how this system will affect their creativity.

Milagro Post plans to use Pablo primarily for commercial work and will be the only company in the Midwest doing commercial DI jobs on Pablo. The facility is also looking ahead to pick up long form jobs such as episodic and feature projects from Los Angeles and New York.

Quantels Pablo is built on the foundations of its eQ and iQ systems, and is also a complete digital intermediate system that combines powerful, image-processing hardware with highly versatile color correction software in a totally integrated color-grading environment. It builds on the QColor in-context grading option, introduced nearly two years ago.

?I give it more gas and Pablo responds very nicely. The hardware never bogs the engine down, said Rick Unger, DI Colorist. ?The Pablo and iQ pair up and integrate into the most powerful creative color grading and finishing station Ive seen, all while working in non-linear 2K resolution. I love the fact that it gives me a limitless number of tools to use for color correction.

With the acquisition of the Pablo on iQ and a Thomson Spirit 2K film scanner, Milagro Post has closed the circle to becoming a one-stop-shop for its clients no matter what the request. ?Were going to be scanning film and storing the material as data and manipulating, grading, compositing and finishing with it in the Pablo suite, added Suggs. ?Our entire facility will have a true DI workflow.
