Midwest TelNet Selects Latens CA to Provide Secure IPTV Solutions to 13 ILECs

Tight integration with Minerva and Amino, proven security, flexibility and scalability cited as key reasons for selection (March 02, 2006)

Latens Systems, the leading provider of IPTV Conditional Access, today announced that Midwest TelNet, a consortium of thirteen IOCs in southwest Wisconsin, has selected Latens FCAS Conditional Access solution to secure its advanced IPTV services. FCAS will integrate with AmiNET110 and AmiNET500 set-top boxes from Amino, the leading IPTV set-top box supplier and with Minervas iTV Manager. Midwest TelNet can now offer its subscribers secured video services that include Pay-TV, High Definition (HD), personal video recording (PVR), video-on-demand (VOD), and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) as MPEG-2 streams.

?We chose Latens because they have an enviable track record in real-world deployments and offer a complete and flexible solution that satisfies our ambitious service offer in the short and long term, stated Rodney Olson, General Manager of Vernon Telephone, a member company of the Midwest TelNet consortium.

?The close collaboration between Latens and Amino enables Midwest TelNet to deploy its advanced IPTV solutions of choice, said Roy Kirsopp, VP & GM at Amino. ?In addition, the integration of Latens FCAS with the AmiNET110 and AmiNET500 widens the choice for all IPTV operators and removes the pre-launch integration required.

?Latens FCAS solution enables Midwest TelNet to have a central Conditional Access solution that interfaces with multiple iTV Managers and hence reduces Midwests cost of encryption, said Dean Kashlan, GM and VP at Latens. ?Our tight integration with Minervas iTV Manager and Aminos AmiNET family of set-top boxes is testament to Latens commitment to offer optimal CA solutions to the IOC market.
